The Australian Labradoodle breed dates back to the 1980’s and was initiated with the intent to create a breed that had the temperament of a service dog and was allergy and asthma friendly in mini, medium, and standard sizes. We prioritize health and temperament to uphold the superior standards of the breed and provide you with an amazing companion.
We are located in Southeastern Indiana, just outside of Cincinnati, OH and a short drive from Indianapolis or Louisville. Private and trustworthy delivery options are available if you are unable to pick up your puppy at Chestnut Hill on the scheduled Gotcha Day. Our puppies will not be shipped, rather delivered by private nanny or in cabin flight to your chosen destination.
Our parent dogs are intentionally chosen and tested for health and temperament traits. Our superior standards align with prestigious club associations to ensure the betterment of the breed. Each of our dogs live in a family home, are loved deeply and respected fully. Click below to meet our dogs.

Review the site and learn about the breed. Next, submit a Puppy Application. Note your 'must haves' on the application. The more open you are to gender, coat, and size, the sooner a litter will be assigned to you. We are not a puppy store, and we prioritize honoring the proper placement of our puppies.
Complete a phone interview with CHL. When approved, submit $100 Reservation fee. Fee is non-refundable. Your name will then be added to the Master Reservation list.
Check back often to watch your placement on the Master Reservation list, as it is fluid and changing frequently. Many times clients ahead of you may pass due to size or timing of the litter. Clients are contacted, in list order, when a litter of the requested size is born. Once assigned to a litter, you will receive access to the VIP Puppy Page to follow their journey.
What is the temperament matching process?
Whether you are in need of a dog for service, ESA, facility or therapy work, or as a family companion- temperament testing is key to finding the right puppy for the job. At your puppy visit, we will dive deeper into learning more about your needs to make the right match. What will be the role of the dog? Who will care for and train puppy? How much time will the puppy be alone? What energy is best for your lifestyle? Do you have children or other pets? What is your previous experience with puppy raising?
Temperament Evaluations are done around day 52. Videos, scorecards, and interpretations are made available to clients waiting for that specific litter. After reviewing the temperament results, we will ask for your input and the matches are ultimately assigned by CHL. Breeder selection for dogs to add to our program or the Stud owners program occur first. Service dogs, facility dogs have next priority with placements. ESA, therapy dogs, and family companions are also matched using the same procedures.
We want our clients to be 100% happy with the puppy matched to them and transparent with the process. How does this work? You may choose to accept the puppy assigned, or pass and return to your position on the Master Reservation list to wait for another puppy. Please note, clients ahead of you on the Master Reservation list may have passed on a particular litter due to size or timing, but then accept a position on the list for the next litter. Passing on a puppy assignment does not necessarily mean you will be first in line on the next litter born.
When you accept a position on a litter list, it is expected that you will take home your puppy on the scheduled Gotcha Day, choose another delivery option, or enroll your puppy in our training class. Gotcha days are on the Saturday after the puppies turn 8 weeks old.
We strive to get the temperament matches right from the beginning. If for any reason you are unable to care for your puppy or dog, we will take back your puppy and assist in re-homing. Puppy mills and backyard breeders will not offer to take back a puppy. Please buy responsibly.
Have more questions about the matching process? Drop us a line at info@chestnuthilllabradoodles.com

Look over the Master Reservation list, posted on this page. The list is fluid and frequently changing. Frequently, clients pass due to size or timing of the litter. Estimated time to be offered a puppy is noted on the list, but this is only an estimate. Timing of the litters is dependent on mother nature. Breeder has all rights to puppies born and how many puppies will be released to the Master list. Most commonly, 1 or 2 spots are held for Breeders per litter. When you are assigned to a litter, your name will be placed on the specific litter list.

Evaluating puppies is a service not provided by all Breeders. At Chestnut Hill Labradoodle, we take pride in raising our puppies on an Advanced Puppy Curriculum with a focus aimed towards quality temperament working dogs and stable dogs for your family life. By evaluating temperaments, we are honoring the voice of the puppy. Not all puppies are right for every home and not all homes are ideal for every puppy. Temperament evaluations give us information to make proper placements for our puppies for lifetime success in the homes of our clients. It is best to fall in love with the whole litter early on (especially if you have young children), as temperaments do not begin to emerge until 6 weeks.
Each litter will have a Titer test completed to determine the vaccine schedule. We believe in optimally vaccinating, not over-vaccinating. Puppies will receive at least one round of DAP before leaving CHL, and 3 sets of de-worming. Vet wellness exams, microchips implanted, and Early Spay or Neuter are completed at age 7 weeks.
Each litter will have scheduled visits with their new families which include: a virtual video visit to meet the puppies with info and Q&A at puppy age 3-4 weeks, and in-person puppy visit at CHL around 5 weeks, a puppy socialization field trip in our local community age 6 weeks, and a Gotcha Day celebration at 8 weeks when puppy is ready to come home. We strive to give you an incredible experience following your puppy’s journey Before joining your family.

There are many methods of dog training. We are training using positive methods and reward based training. Researchers report an association between the use of reward-based training methods and positive outcomes for dogs and for the relationship between the dogs and their owners with a higher degree of closeness and bonding. We raise our puppies teaching them the world is safe and people and dogs are friendly- and this training method continues with that philosophy. Dogs repeat behaviors that are rewarding. For example, if a dog gets a treat when he sits, he will be more likely to sit again in the future. That’s why positive reinforcement training, or training with rewards, is so effective.
Also it must be noted that a trained puppy can be untrained in 3 days if the behaviors are not continually reinforced or if the unwanted behaviors are allowed. When your puppy has completed the training, you can expect to spend about 60-90 minutes with us to show you the methods to help your puppy continue to build on the successes already gained.
Each day, the puppies are following a routine to help them know what to expect. It takes some time for a puppy to settle into anything new and the first couple of days take some patience. Rest assured, your puppy is getting lots of snuggles and attention. Puppy is spending progressive time alone in the crate during the day and at night, playtime in a play yard indoors and outdoors, short and frequent training sessions, cuddle sessions and free but supervised play on the farm as well. We are working on socialization, crate and house training, introduction to leash walking, and basic behaviors such as “”Yes”, “Nope”, “Watch me”, “Sit”, “Down”, “Stay”, “Come”, “Let’s Go”, “Crate”, “Let’s go Potty” “Settle”, “Okay”, and “Go to Bed”.
Our trained puppies are sleeping through the night 10p-6a, and able to hold their bladders during the day for several hours, eliminating outside, and sitting to say please automatically.
Training with rewards is fun, builds the human-canine bond, and best of all, encourages a love of learning in dogs. We are working hard with your puppy individually, several times each day as puppy’s need lots of rest still at this age between sessions. Please remember a 12-16 week old puppy is just that- still a very young puppy. Training at this age is just the basics, more advanced training comes as puppy is a bit older. You should not expect your puppy to have perfect behavior after completion of the 2 week training. Puppy will have a great head start and will have learned some basic commands that you can move forward with and have a well mannered puppy And have a great head start.!!
We currently have standard chocolate males, trained and ready for you. Submit your application and mention “trained puppy”.
